While photos capture memories visually, preserved flowers give you something tangible, bringing you back to those meaningful moments every time you see them. Whether it’s a wedding bouquet, memorial arrangement, or milestone celebration, these keepsakes create a lasting connection to the day.

COLOR CORRECTING & THE DRYING PROCESS

In the drying process, the colors of your flowers ARE going to change. For example, red flowers dry very deep burgundy, some taupe colors dry a dusty purple, etc. Color correction is the process of enhancing the natural colors of your flowers to ensure they look as vibrant and beautiful as possible, and some colors like whites and pale pinks naturally fade or take on an antique hue during the preservation process. At the Wilted Flower Co. I automatically color-correct these shades to restore their brightness and maintain the charm they had on your special day.

While color correction is an amazing service, I love the natural drying process of flowers and only utilize this service as needed to ensure your keepsake is up to my standards. If you have additional questions or concerns about color correction, please let me know.

FAQ

PRESERVATION FAQ's

  • How long does the process take?
Your flowers take a minimum of 8 weeks to completely dry out, and flowers that are thicker could take longer (sunflowers, for example) – once dry, I design the layout of the frame. Please remember that during the busy wedding months (Spring & Sept-Dec), the process may take me a little longer because of the volume of bouquets I am working with. I also have to work through resin items you may have in your order. Most orders are complete within 10-14 weeks.
  • What is your turn around time on orders?
As stated in the beginning. MOST orders are finished in the 10-14 week timeframe. I am only one person, so please have patience with me during the crazy wedding seasons. I am making sure I take the time I need to perfect each keepsake and not rush through them.
  • How soon do you need the flowers after my wedding/event?
I need the blooms within 1-3 days if possible to ensure they are not wilting. If you are shipping to me, I always recommend next-day shipping. Keep the stems trimmed and in fresh water until they are brought to me.
  • What flowers preserve the “best”?
Roses, anemones, baby’s breath, sweet peas, snapdragons, hydrangeas, eucalyptus, sunflowers, delphiniums, ranunculus/butterfly ranunculus, cosmos – these are good examples that press well, but this does not mean if you do not see a flower listed, I cannot work with it. I tend to press everything in the bouquet and use what turns out the prettiest. With this being said, flowers like lilies are orchids that are extremely moisture-filled are not my strong suit, so if those flowers are special to you, I may not be your girl. Other examples that do not press well are carnations and mums
  • Will my flowers look exactly like they did in my bouquet?
The short answer to this is no, they will not. There are a lot of flowers that retain vibrant colors, but there are also some that do not. Also, for example, roses look completely different pressed versus how they do naturally or in resin.
  • Will they last forever?
With time, your keepsakes are going to fade, it is inevitable. However, with proper care, such as keeping it out of direct sunlight or moisture (not hanging them in a window or in a bathroom that gets a lot of steam) will help this. Most frames I do are requested in floating frames (double glass frames) – but I also offer white backing if preferred and this could slow the sun exposure as well. As far as resin keepsakes, resin is going to yellow over the years, but again, with proper care, it is much delayed.
  • Do you ship?
I am happy to incorporate shipping either way, but shipping costs are IN ADDITION TO your order price, and I am not responsible for shipping problems/delays. I cannot promise refunds for issues that are out of my control. Let me know if you need shipping information and I will send you additional tips.
  • Can I add items/make changes to my order?
I am absolutely happy to help you make decisions or add items after your initial booking. Please remember this may delay your order if I have to order additional supplies/take more time to finish your order. BUT, note that how flowers are dried for resin versus how flowers are dried for frames are NOT the same. So if we have decided only on a frame, and I have pressed them all, certain resin items may not be possible at that point.
  • Do you offer color correction?
I personally love the natural drying process without color enhancements, HOWEVER, I recently began color correcting whites and pale pinks unless you ask me not to, and this is because those colors dry very “antique” and with continued fading over time, will look browner. There are tons of companies that offer this for all colors, so if that is what you love, it won’t offend me! I want you to love your flowers.
  • Can you work with all white bouquets?
Absolutely. I do tons of all white bouquets. I always let brides know that all white bouquets tend to try with a “vintage” look to them, and are definitely not stark white after pressing. However, I think this gives them character and any frame color goes well with all white flowers. **Recently I have started color correcting white flowers and this is a free service – this helps the flowers remain whiter instead of “vintage”** Please keep in mind that if you do not have greenery in your bouquet and prefer all white/all white with baby’s breath, your frame won’t have much dimension.
  • Do you work with already dried flowers?
I can, but the options are limited. I can put them in resin usually, and I can also arrange them in a shadowbox display. If this is you, send me an email and we can discuss what is best for your flowers. **ALL frames can be double glass or have white backing, and if you have a specific color request, let me know and I am always open to see what I can find. 8x10 & 11x14 may have Plexiglas options as well.**
